Georg Fassl is an Austrian-born (*1985, Graz) architect engaged in practice, teaching and research. Based in Vienna, he collaborates widely on work inspired by abstract thought and the contingency of contemporary life.

Grown up in a family of joiners, Georg attended the Ortwein-School of Arts and Design in the field of Interior and Furniture design, received his Master’s of Science degree in Architecture from the Graz University of Technology with distinction and concluded postgraduate studies, focusing on Spatial Design, at the Zurich University of the Arts.

During and after his studies, Georg was academically involved in the Institute of Architecture and Media (TU Graz), participated in the Digital Gnomonics research workshops (ETH Zurich/TU Vienna) and is currently a Scientific Assistant and Lecturer at the Department for Architecture Theory and Philosophy of Technics (Prof. Bühlmann), Vienna University of Technology, where he founded the Daedalus Observatory, a space for architectonic research on the ‘mobile’ and ‘immobile’, as well as the Studio SOL design studio.

In 2017, after developing projects on a broad range of scales in architectural studios in Graz, Berlin and Vienna (2010-16), including completed work in culture, living and workspace, Georg established his independent architecture practice, at present concentrating on spatial and object design.
